Kenmore Range/Oven F10 Error — Temperature Runaway (Critical)
The F10 error code is one of the most serious Kenmore oven errors — it means the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum safe limit and the control board has activated an emergency shutdown. This can indicate a shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD probe), a relay on the control board stuck in the closed position, or a failed control board.
Immediate Safety Steps
- Turn off the oven immediately and do not use it until repaired.
- Turn off the circuit breaker for the range as a precaution.
- Allow the oven to cool completely before any inspection.
Root Cause Identification
The RTD sensor (oven temperature probe) is the most common cause of F10. Test the probe resistance at room temperature — it should read approximately 1,100 ohms. A short circuit (near-zero resistance) means the probe is shorted and must be replaced immediately.
Do Not Use the Oven with F10 Active
F10 represents a genuine fire and safety risk. Do not use the oven until the fault is diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician. Our technicians treat F10 calls as priority service requests.
