Kenmore Range/Oven F0 Error — Door Lock Motor Problem
The F0 error code on Kenmore ranges and ovens indicates the door lock motor failed to complete its lock or unlock cycle within the expected time. This commonly occurs during or after a self-clean cycle, when the door locks for safety, and the motor that drives the latch does not complete its movement.
Self-Clean Cycle and F0
Self-clean cycles lock the oven door and raise the interior to 900°F+ to incinerate food residue. If the lock motor is worn or the latch mechanism is jammed (often from baked-on grease), the F0 error appears. The door may also be stuck in the locked position after F0, which requires the motor to be manually reset or replaced before the door can open.
Resolution Steps
- Allow the oven to cool completely (at least 1 hour after self-clean).
- Perform a power cycle (disconnect at the breaker for 5 minutes).
- Attempt to run a short self-clean cycle again to trigger the lock mechanism through its full range of motion.
Lock Motor Replacement
If the door remains locked and F0 persists, the lock motor must be replaced to mechanically release the latch. Our technicians are experienced with Kenmore door lock assembly replacements and carry the parts for common range models.
