Kenmore Range/Oven F15 Error — Control Board EEPROM Failure
The F15 error code indicates the Electronic Range Control (ERC) board’s EEPROM memory has developed a fault. The EEPROM stores calibration data, user preferences, and operating parameters. When the stored data becomes corrupted — due to power surge, age, or component failure — F15 appears.
Can It Be Reset?
Some F15 errors are caused by a one-time power anomaly and will clear with a 15-minute power cycle. If F15 persists after a full reset, the EEPROM data cannot be recovered through normal means and the control board must be replaced.
Prevention
Use a surge protector with your range to protect the sensitive ERC board from power spikes, which are the leading cause of EEPROM failure. Our technicians install replacement boards with all factory-default settings pre-programmed.
