Kenmore Range/Oven F14 Error — Meat Probe Sensor Shorted

The F14 error code indicates the optional meat probe (food thermometer probe) port has detected a shorted signal. This occurs when a damaged meat probe is inserted, when the probe socket has accumulated grease or moisture, or when the probe is partially inserted at an angle.

Simple Fixes

  1. Remove the meat probe from the socket completely.
  2. Clean the probe socket inside the oven with a dry cotton swab.
  3. Inspect the meat probe cord for cuts or damaged insulation.
  4. Clear the error with the Clear/Off button.

If F14 Appears Without a Probe Inserted

If F14 appears and no probe is connected, the probe socket on the oven has developed an internal short. The socket requires replacement to clear the error permanently. This is a minor repair that our technicians complete quickly.
