Kenmore Dryer F10 Error — Drive Belt Issue Detected
The F10 error code on select Kenmore dryer models indicates the drive belt sensor has detected that the drum belt may be broken, slipped, or worn. The belt wraps around the drum and is driven by the motor. When it snaps, the drum stops rotating while the motor continues to run.
Identifying a Broken Belt
- Motor runs (you can hear it) but the drum does not turn
- You can spin the drum very easily by hand with the door open
- F10 error displayed on newer sensor-equipped models
Belt Replacement
Drive belt replacement requires removing the front panel and drum. It is a moderate DIY repair for those comfortable disassembling the dryer. Our technicians complete belt replacements efficiently and check the drum bearing and glides at the same time, since these often wear together with the belt.
