Kenmore Refrigerator Er gF Error — Ice Maker Fill Problem
The Er gF error code indicates the ice maker did not fill with water as expected during the ice-making cycle. The control board monitors the fill time and amount, and if the ice maker tray does not receive adequate water, Er gF is logged.
Causes of Er gF
- Water filter clogged or overdue for replacement (recommended every 6 months)
- Ice maker water supply valve weak or failed
- Ice maker arm stuck in the “off” (up) position
- Low water pressure to the home (below 20 psi minimum)
- Kinked water supply line
Quick Fixes
- Replace the water filter if it has been more than 6 months.
- Check that the ice maker arm is in the down (on) position.
- Verify the water supply valve behind the refrigerator is fully open.
- Run a manual ice maker test cycle to observe water filling.
Valve Testing
If all quick fixes are checked and Er gF persists, the water inlet valve solenoid for the ice maker circuit requires electrical testing. Our technicians test valve function and water pressure simultaneously to diagnose the root cause.
