The F4 error code is the opposite of F3 — the surface element sensor is shorted rather than open. The control board reads an impossibly low resistance value from the temperature sensor and shuts down the zone.
Causes
- Moisture in the sensor connector
- Pinched or melted sensor wiring
- Failed surface element thermistor
What To Do
- Inspect the cooktop surface for boil-over damage near the affected element.
- Do not use the shorted zone.
- Professional replacement of the sensor is required to clear this fault.
