The F6 error code on a Kenmore microwave indicates a communication failure between the display/touch board and the main control board. These two boards must communicate continuously, and a failure of this link generates F6.
Causes
- Loose or disconnected ribbon cable between the two boards
- Failed display board
- Failed main control board
What To Do
- Power cycle the microwave (unplug for 5 minutes).
- If F6 clears, it was a transient communication glitch.
- If F6 returns, a technician will need to test both boards and the interconnecting cable.
