The F3 error code on a Kenmore microwave indicates a fault with the humidity (moisture) sensor. Some Kenmore microwaves use a humidity sensor to automatically determine cooking doneness. When this sensor fails, auto-cook functions may be disabled and F3 will display.
Causes
- Failed humidity sensor
- Grease or food film coating the sensor
- Wiring fault to the sensor
What To Do
- Locate and clean the humidity sensor — typically a small protrusion on the microwave cavity interior wall.
- Wipe with a damp cloth and allow to dry.
- If F3 persists after cleaning, the sensor requires professional replacement. Manual cooking modes will still function.
