Kenmore Dishwasher F17 Error — Flood Protection Triggered
The F17 error code is a serious flood protection alert. It means water has accumulated in the base pan beneath the dishwasher tub, triggering the flood sensor (also called the Aquastop or overflow sensor). The dishwasher locks itself out to prevent water damage to your flooring and cabinets.
Immediate Actions
- Turn off the dishwasher immediately at the power switch or breaker.
- Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher at the inlet valve under the sink.
- Carefully tilt the dishwasher slightly forward (after disconnecting power) to drain accumulated water from the base pan.
Finding the Leak Source
Once the base pan is dry, run a short fill cycle (with the door open) to observe where water is entering. Common sources include: deteriorated door gasket, cracked spray arm, failed inlet valve, loose hose connection, or a cracked tub.
Do Not Ignore F17
F17 must be resolved before normal operation can resume. Using a dishwasher with active water leakage risks significant water damage, mold growth, and electrical hazards. Contact our technicians immediately for emergency same-day service.
